Fields and Fields of Dreams
Fields and Fields of Dreams is a non-profit organization whose mission is to motivate, inspire, empower, mentor, provide tutoring, education, and career training skills to improve the quality of life for youth and their family members residing in Prince George’s County Maryland who have been impacted by the use of a mood-altering substance(s) by the youth, parent(s) or grandparent(s). Our goal is to provide support to the youth and their families to help the youth move in a positive direction by identifying challenges in their lives, obtaining support with addressing the challenge(s), teaching effective coping skills, assisting with accessing resources to encourage the youth and their family members to move in a positive direction. Our program includes referral to counseling, education, tutoring, and skills training to promote and develop academic success and enhanced career opportunities.
What is our Goal?
The Ground
In our community the needs are great in so many areas. Many within the community live in a state of hopelessness. and find day to day activities more of a bother than doing what is needed. Each day the person is facing challenges as they try to move forward towards change. Our work is both a philosophy and a practice. we believe that people and communities working together are part of the solution. We bring people on the front lines of creating change, learn together, inspire one another and strengthen our collective ability to be Great! We are on the ground face to face, hand to hand and heart to heart with those we serve.
The Seed
When a seed is planted the one planting, hopes what was planted grows and produce the harvest it’s intended to produce. People are different. People have minds of their own and do as they wish. We meet the person right where they are and discuss with them their dreams and goals. Each encounter another seed of change is planted. Just like seeds take time to produce a harvest. People need time to see that change can become their goal.
The Work of Change
When building any building after the plans have been drawn the foundation is poured and the building takes shape. The life of those in the community must see that their foundation needs rebuilding and the building of change that they seek is there , it will take hard work, constancy, caring ears and big shoulders to help them reach the goals that the plan of their new life is requesting. Fields and Fields of Dreams staff will be there to ensure that every foundation has what it needs to GROW!
